Walking Transformation
Posted by Jennifer Labrum on June 18, 2009I previously stated the kids started walking "well" about the middle of June. I guess I should clarify what that means. At that time, they could go all around the house without falling and without holding on to anything. I, in no way, meant to imply that the way they walked had anything to do with aesthetics.
Luke looked like Frankenstein, with a huge cheesy smile.

And Ella looked like she was doing Michael Jackson's Thriller dance—concentrating very hard.

For about a week or two, Luke always walked with his arms stretched out completely straight in front of him and legs a little rigid.

Ella continued to walk like she was doing the Thriller dance. Or like a little T-rex that have tiny little arms they hold up with their claws curled downward. This was an improvement from the first steps she took on her own a few weeks earlier where she was hunched over like a little cave woman. Maybe Ella could read my thoughts because she didn't walk at the same time Luke did. Though she had the strength, coordination and balance to do so. She was actually a "secret walker" for about a week. I would catch her walking when she thought I wasn't in the room and then she would immediately sit when she saw me. It was so odd. She got over that soon enough and became a full-time, out-of-the-closet walker.

Both Ella and Luke eventually morphed into the beautiful, confident little walkers they are today.
